We've compiled some of our most Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) and have created this page to address some of those questions.
How do I use my Wonder Cut Ruler with a pattern that
calls for half-square triangles (HST's) when they use a measurement of
3/8 th's?
At last count, we knew of 17 different ways to make HST's.
One of which is to cut two squares, sew a diagonal seam down the middle,
trim a 1/4" from seam allowance, and then press. Usually with this
method, the pattern will have a measurement including 3/8 th's or 7/8 th's.
When you use the Wonder Cut Ruler, subtract 3/8 th's and you will have
the unfinished size of your HST.
How do I know what size to make my HST's?
Check your pattern/block and see if there is another
square the same size as the HST. That's the quickest and easiest
way.
What if I don't want the outside edges of my HST's
on the bias?
Cut your beginning strips on the bias. The completed
HST will not have the outside edges on the bias.
