At our Fall 2006 Retreat, we
issued a challenge to our fellow
retreaters. We let them pick out a fabric to use in creating
quilts for our Foster Kids Christmas Basket Program. We sent our
retreaters home with fabric and this spring, they returned with
completed quilts for the kids. We had a Viewer's Choice to select
the winner. The prize - 10 yards of fabric their choice.
After the vote was complete, we had a tie. So to Vicky and Nikki,
we say congrats, and to all those that completed a quilt, we say Thank
You! The real winners in this challenge are the kids. To
see the completed quilts, click here.
Can you find the challenge fabric?

This quilt has an interesting layout of blocks and
borders. It was a very fast quilt to make. JBlue & Gold Stars
As many of you know, when we
are demonstrating the ruler, we end up with lots of pieces cut
from our demonstration strips. Deciding what to do with them
is a real challenge. Earlier this year, we went to a retreat
in Canada. One gal there asked for our demo pieces. We
gladly gave them to her. She, in turn, has started to make quilts
for the Children's Hospital from them. Our hat is off to this
quilter with a heart of gold. Here is what she created with those
leftover pieces. J Brenda's Quilt
This week, I found this great little mystery
quilt pattern. It worked up in less than 2 hours. This quilt was
designed by Leonore Neumann.JPrecious Preemie

what I came up with. This is another miniature done with
half-square triangles. When I first saw this pattern,
it was done with 4-1/2" HST. I put a couple rows together and

liked
the finished product much better. Blue Star Mystery

typical of human nature, I am never satisfied with the temperature

summer heat. If it is hot, I yearn for the crisp autumn
mornings. Well, since fall is more than a couple months away, I
created my own version of fall. Color of Fall

to finish a few of them up. Here we go. This first one only
needed
the binding sewn on. This is a perfect way to showcase novelty

I think it truly applies "Cats come in many colors. What color
would you like with your quilt?" Patchwork CatsJ
