We held our first Wonder Cut Ruler retreat at the Marsh Creek Event
Centre located in the beautiful Albion Valley here in Idaho.
The Event Centre has a beautiful 4,000 square foot facility with
hardwood floors and a stone fireplace which was just the
perfect place for our retreat. Darlene and her crew fed us
wonderful meals and treated us like one of the family. We did two
quilts, a table runner, and a fun little Quilter's Gadget Bag. We
had a great time. Here are some pictures of some very busy
quilters and their projects from the weekend. If you are
interesting in attending, please drop a line
to: Alice.
We spent Friday night getting to know everyone a
little bit better by sitting by the fire at the Marsh Creek Inn.
We roasted some marshmallows and made Banana Boats and enjoyed
hot chocolate by the fire. We played a few rounds of Quilt-O.
Portia insisted on changing Quilt-O cards. She won every
game afterwards. The rest of us decided she should go buy a
lottery ticket and share her winnings with us.

Bright and early Saturday morning, the bell rang, and we were off
quilting!
Everyone busy sewing around the table.
Our first project was a "Thousand Pyramids Quilt" made with the new Wonder Cut Triangle
Ruler.
Here is a group picture of everyone and their completed quilts (except
for Kay - she borrowed the sample quilt to show it off for us).
This was Helen's very first quilt and we are all so proud of her!
She's been bitten by the quilting bug!!

Front Row: Betty (or Queenie as we all came to know
her) and Kay
Our next project was a table runner we designed especially for this
retreat called, "Albion Valley." Everyone learned how to make
three-part squares and flying geese using the Wonder Cut Ruler.

Our last project was a fun little quilt we call
"Back to Basics 2". Mary proved to be the speed demon of the
group and completed all her projects first. Here she is showing
off her completed quilt.
Not to be outdone, Judy was fast on her toes with her quilt. She
is pictured here with Elayne.
Queenie came through and finished her quilt as well. She kept
telling us she would complete more quilts if she didn't have to "unsew"
all the time.
Marianne, who professes to be "as slow as
Christmas", finished up her quilt as well.
