Wonder Cut Ruler Fall 2007 Retreat
(not your average quilting retreat!) October
5-7, 2007
Our Fall 2007 Wonder Cut Ruler Retreat was held October 5-7, 2007 at
the Marsh
Creek Event Centre located in the beautiful Albion Valley here in Idaho.
Albion is about 18 miles from Burley.
We started off the retreat with the traditional ringing of the school
bell. As our quilters entered the main retreat room, they were
greeted by our theme "I'm Diggin' It!"
Delicious Idaho Spuds just waiting to
be taken to a new home!
A little Idaho Care package for each of our retreaters.
Our quilters introduced
themselves as
they showed their "Bring 'n Brag". We had quilters from Wyoming,
Utah, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Idaho join
us.
Projects for this retreat included two quilts and a Baked Potato Bag
(or course!).
At our retreats, the tables are arranged in a large circle. This
year, as the quilters "set up shop" they quickly noticed a series of
quilts layed upside down in the middle of the circle. We gave
strict instructions for "NO PEEKING" to see what the tops of the quilts
looked like. Attendees soon learned that the quilts decorating
the center of the room were the completed challenge quilts from the
Spring Retreat. Our challenge was to use an "interesting" fabric
and create a quilt to be donated to the foster kids in our area this
Christmas. The fabric we chose was a really wild
print. Check it out for yourself:
On Saturday, we had a Viewer's Choice vote. Everyone got into the
act of casting their vote - visitors to the retreat, the cooks, the
massage therapist .. that is everyone but mom and I. Here we go,
and I'm tickled to say it's a repeat winner -- Vicky! For her
generous donation she recieved 10 yards of fabric - her choice.
Isn't this just the sweetest quilt! I would have never thought to
use this particular fabric to make this quilt.
Thank you, Vicky! Some little boy is just going to love this quilt!

Buying fabric!!
Did I mention there was lots of fabric
to chose from?

Here's Julie and Kelly playing with their fabric.
This was one of three mother-daughter groups at this retreat.
These were some very busy quilters!
You could say there was a whole lotta sewing going on!
And who says quilters can't talk and sew at the same time??
